Laurie Cogar will be heading up the White Wreath Project as our community service for the ASG 2012. The items collected will be donated to Millard Fillmore Suburban. Collection date is at our meeting on December 13, 2012. Anyone who would like to help Laurie with the collection and distribution, please emai her or discuss at the next meeting.
The request is for Blankets to be given to the person visiting the ill patient. So Blankets that will fit an adult sleeping on a cot, couch or in a chair - any size - but not too small. Fabrics (including fleece) must be comfortable, washable, sewn, crocheted or knitted all of easy care and washable materials please. Because of the nature of their use - the Hospital has asked that they not be too whimsical and a more subdued in color. They may be solid or printed. There is a lot of leeway here - so do whatever you think is proper.
If you are unable to make a blanket - they also will accept gift cards to say Tim Hortons (which is located right there) or other fast foods in the Suburban Hospital area. Anything that can be used in a gift basket of this type - say toiletry and Kleenex type tissues (hosptal brand is not soft at all). They also will accept monetary donations.
If you are unsure of the item that you want to donate - contact Laurie and she will check it out for you. Laurie's email: [email protected]
Thanks for your help with this community project. We will be taking photos (or have someone take a photo of you making your items) and will be having press releases to benefit the hospital on this subject.
